Zoo Whiz – Review A great free site!
After I did my review on Reading Eggs I saw a comment about Zoo Whiz there. I was intrigued as it was offered for free. It covers math, reading, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Totally perfect areas for my son. So I thought I would give it a whirl. Let me tell you a little bit more about Zoo Whiz before I tell you my thoughts.
Zoo Whiz is geared for ages 5 to 15. It is a curriculum based motivational learning program. While the kids are learning they get to earn coins that they can spend on there zoo or in the arcade. At the end of each lesson you can see how well your doing. ( I believe there is another place to see that on the map as well). You can have a free account or upgrade premium account. On the premium account you can buy endangered species and have more options in the arcade games. You have access 24/7, 365 days a year.
My Thoughts:
I watched my son do a little of each in reading, words, and math. He didn’t seem to mind doing the work on the computer. I think what he really likes is earning the coins so he can buy things. I heard scream “Mom I bought an animal for my zoo.” Which made me smile. It gives him the motivation to want to learn and have fun at the same time. Now keep in mind this is only Day 1. I must say I really like the set up. I really like the fact that it’s free too. Maybe in time we will take a peak and see what the premium member ship has to offer and see how much it costs. I was totally impressed. I know we will be adding this in our homeschool day. One thing I forgot to mention was when your child is in his account it breaks it down by ages. Now I didn’t change the ages yet as I felt it was good review. My son has autism so when he doesn’t use something he forgets so a review isn’t going to hurt nothing and he can build on the learning program.

Thanks so much for using ZooWhiz!
