What a day!
Ever feel like you are being tested? You know the saying God never gives you more then you can handle, well I think I had a little more today then I could handle. LOL
My morning started out awesome. Dakota woke up and was cooperative. I got him dressed, fed, and ready for his first day of summer school. He was so excited. I took him to his classroom and I got the sweet “Bye I love you Mommy” which melts my heart. While he was in school I got a package. I had won a Macroni Grill Set. I was so excited. Well then not even 10 minutes later Fed Ex showed up. I got a $100 gift certificate I won from 1 800 Flowers. It felt like Christmas.
I picked up Dakota from school and well little Mr Tude decided to come out. I stopped at Mc Donald’s and picked up lunch for all of us. He had a temper tantrum in the car because I only bought him 1 cheeseburger. Well for a kid who was hungry. He gave his fries to his brother’s friend and fed the dog the burger. So I am glad I didn’t get too. Then he decided he wanted to play with a neighbor kiddo. Well wouldn’t you know it. The tantrums, tattling and attitudes start. The kids have to learn to fight out there own battles. One constantly tells. She went home. Dakota was sent to his room for a time out. He was name calling, being rude, screaming and slamming my door. Part of it was a melt down. I am not using the autism as an excuse. He can’t identify emotions or tell you how he feels so he substitutes it for screaming. Well I calmed him down after the first one. The second one he went to his room. I struggled so hard today to keep it together.
Then after that was all over he went outside again to play. They had a blast. No tattling, no fighting, no tudes!! WOOHOO!! Then my son was lovey dovey once again. I love when he is in the mood. This behavior modification that we are doing sure is hard. They were right when they said things would get worse before they get better. Tomorrow is a new day.
My day was pretty good though all in all. We just have some moments to deal with that at times feel so overwhelming. I am tired and worn out. I am heading to bed. Night All! I will be making my blog rounds once again tomorrow. (Well morning if your reading this after midnight)

Thanks Anne
Oh my gosh Stacie I didn’t know you had an autistic child. I follow Andrea and My Autism Insights and have learned so much about her son Gus and Andrea herself. It is one of my favorite blogs. She is so good with him and I feel like I personally know Gus. My hats off to you for sharing this and to mother’s such as you and Andrea. Time outs never hurt any child.
I’ve added you to my blogroll. I don’t know why it took me so long
Aloha my friend
