The Runaway Bunny Lapbook

Brittany and I spent the morning working on a Lapbook for The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown. This is a really cute book about a little bunny that wants to runaway. However Mommy Bunny always has a response for this little bunny and at the end the little bunny decides he isn’t going to runaway. Don’t want to spoil it to much as it’s a really cute book.

We used the lapbook from Homeschool Share and there was a cutting sheet and craft idea from Kids Soup.

Of course we started out by reading the book. The we proceeded into Brittany cutting on the dotted line to cut out a bunny. She didn’t do to bad her first time around for being told to cut on the line. Of course I had to hold the paper and turn it for her. She only clipped a little bit of the bunnys ear off.

Next time I will make a couple extra things to go along with the lapbooks. This was a spur of the moment thing this morning as I wanted to keep her busy and out of trouble. I think she is so worn out now that she is laying down watching TV which is perfect because then I can work with Dakota in peace.

The next thing we did was a pattern. She did really good matching the pattern strips. We glued them on.

We did a what I call double shadow match which was kind of hard for her as she thought they all looked the same but she got throw it and matched them all.

Then we proceeded to the lapbook. I liked this lapbook as it had words matching shapes. Which Brittany was able to identify. She was able to tell me which picture was colored painting and which was pen sketching. We did the Animals I know memory match. We also did the If and Then. I was really surprised that she could recall the story with those cards. I think there was only two she got confused. So I was really impressed with that. We didn’t make the Scarecrow into a puppet though. She wanted to glue that down.

Finally we made the mask. She was so proud of it that she wanted to show the neighbors. LOL

This weekend I plan on putting together a little unit for one or two of the books we checked out from the library. I do plan on sharing them on my blog.

I would also like to thank Homeschool Share for the free lapbook resource as we really enjoyed it and it was fun. If your interested in lapbooking check them out they have lots of wonderful resources there.
