The Legend of Spookley The Square Pumpkin Storybook App Review

Do you remember the saying: Never judge a book by it’s cover, well in this case it’s a pumpkin. The story The Legend of Spookley The Square Pumpkin delivers a very special message to kids of tolerance and self acceptance. To me it also teaches them it’s ok to be different and everyone has something special about them.

One day in the pumpkin patch the strangest little pumpkin hatched.” Spookley the Pumpkin was different. In a world where “the only good pumpkins are round pumpkins,” Spookley The Square Pumpkin is shunned until a mighty storm threatens to destroy the entire patch. As the storm rages, Spookley realizes “it’s fine to be round while the weather is fair, but there are times it’s better to be a square! Sometimes being different can save the day!”

In “The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin” a very unique pumpkin delivers a special message of tolerance and self-acceptance that’s just right for Halloween…and every day of the year!

Our Thoughts:

The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin is an adorable story. I thought the courage and determination of Spookley to save the other pumpkins was awesome. I loved how at the end the farmer thought he was very special and planted more pumpkins. I was very surprised to see different shapes and a vibrant colors. This came out right in time for Halloween as well. My favorite overall thing about this story is that it sends a message to the kids about tolerance and self acceptance.

The graphics in the story are very vibrant. I loved the narration of the story as well. We choose the read to me so we could interact with the story. My daughter loved the sound effects and was curious as which one would do say what. They all perfectly fit into the story.

You can purchase The Legend of Spookley The Square Pumpkin in the itunes store for 99 cents (which by the way is a great deal). It is compatible with iphone, ipad, and ipod.

You can also purchase this for android, amazon, and nook.
