The Hide Out – Part 1

Well Dakota and I have spent the last hour or two painting his closet. It started out Fluorescent Green and then well it ended up looking like an abstract wall with orange. Yes he got a little creative and out of hand. I walked out of the room for a second to put my paint tray and he had started painting his door. Sigh… I am wondering if I made a mistake painting with him. I wanted him to be a part of it as it was his fort…oh oh I sent a picture to earl on his cell phone…he is calling… I wonder if he is going to be ticked….

Nope he actually laughed at us… Whew… I don’t know how the rest of the fort is going to turn out. Earl just suggested what my Dad had said awhile ago making him a bench in there with a cushion on it. Hmmm never did a cushion before. It was acutally fun doing this. Messy but funny.

Dakota doesn’t realize that his shelf is not going back in the closet. I think it will snap in half and he will get hurt. So I am eliminating that.

Here are the pictures:

Stacie, I am trying to get caught up on your posts. I have been so busy here and now my throat is killing me:( The kids are getting sick as well. I LOVE the closet. As long as Dakota likes it, that is great. Good job on you both painting. You are such a good Mommy.

Thanks April! We painted the blue when we first moved in. That room was actually my oldest son’s room and his choice of color. Dakota’s was Navy Blue. As we saw an idea by Disney Paints and were going to do that. Now I sorta did that 5 years later.

I think it looks awesome myself. When I was growing up my room was painted with a white wall, red wall and black wall. I think he’ll like it. A real sense of accomplishment :)

I like the idea of different wall colors. He really does like it. He is rather proud of himself. Although he used a TON of paint. LOL

I LOVE this! Dakota is quite the little guy! Buildes…paints…does all kinds!

As far as my kiddos, its hard to tell they BOTH got the Hep A. Gannon got more, but Elise didn’t. So frustrating thats for sure. I called the DR and she was like those are all “normal” symptoms….I did NOT believe her at all….but oh well. i won’t be going back there!

Dakota loved what he did. His bed fits in the closet and he was so excited. I mean only part of it. Tomorrow we will clean out his room and do some figuring out.

I know kids can get fevers from the shots but to be that warm and then both of them? That’s just weird. I wouldn’t know what to think. LOL Don’t ask me as you know I dont like the vaccines. I am don’t really like them after what I read the other night. I hope the kids start feeling better.

i think that is awesome that you had dakota share in the decorating of his space. even though it isn’t exactly what you had in mind, at least he can have a sense of accomplishment from doing this. great job stacie!

Wow! That it a bright colored room! I am a little scared because I have a one year old son, and I don’t know what I would do if he painted his room… I would try my best not to freak, but it would be hard for me because I am a little bit of a perfectionist. I guess I should stop being a perfectionist with a little boy running around :)

    Happy SITS Sharefest :)

We only did this because we are trying to make his room a safe place for him. One where he doesn’t mind going. I would have preferred to do it my self. LOL My son has a lot of sensory issues because of his autism. We are going to turn his closet into something. Just not sure what exactly. His bed is in it a little bit and he has a sheet he can pull down and enclose himself in. He loves it. We had to take down the top shelf because he kept climbing and I didn’t feel the boards were sturdy enough for him to be on it. There is a method behind the madness. Thankfully I can take the paint of the door easily.
