Temple Grandin: The World Needs All Kinds Of Minds
First off I want to thank Sarah from Caiafa Craziness for leaving the link in one of her comments here. Temple Grandin is an amazing woman. She herself was diagnosed with autism as a child. She does a lot of conferences on autism and aspergers. She is very informational. I believe she owns a cattle slaughter house too.
The video I want to share Temple Grandin talks about the different types of thinkers. She talks about how she is a Visual Thinker. She thinks things in pictures. Think of looking at Google Images and that’s thinking in pictures. She makes a great case of how the world needs different types of thinkers. She encourages you to get your autistic child involved into something. She also brings up a good point about schools taking a lot of the hands on programs out. Lucky for me Dakota loves art and gym.
Dakota likes to take things apart. He likes to think things through to try to solve things. They may not always be right or always be the right steps he should take but he tries. That’s one of the things the Occupational Therapist brought up at the IEP. He loves to take things apart and he loves to build. He loves computers and games.
I want to share the video with all of you as I thought it was very interesting. It is long but it is definitely worth watching. Again Thanks Sarah for sharing the link with me.

She does make a lot of great points. I would love to go to one of her seminars. I saw bits and pieces of it. I am going to see if it is still on demand and watch it as it really caught my interest.
