Tap To Talk – Guest Blogger Tammy
Hi All! I had asked Tammy from Autism Learning Felt to talk about Tap To Talk which is a communication system that lets non verbal children be heard. Since my son is verbal I won’t be able to review this product and I wanted to share it with some of my readers that may not know about it. Tammy thank you for taking the time to write this post up for me. I greatly appreciate it.
I was honored that Stacie asked me to write a post about TapToTalk for her blog. I reviewed it on my site in October and love it. If you haven’t heard about TapToTalk, it is a communication system that runs on both the Nintendo DS Lite and Nintendo DSi. It is a low cost way of allowing your nonverbal child to talk. It is also a great way to help expand the language skills of a child with limited speech.
I have found that TapToTalk is easy to use. My son enjoys it and it is easy to carry around. One of the nicest features of this system is that using the Nintendo to communicate with doesn’t make him stand out among other children.
Once you have purchased your subscription to TapToTalk, you can begin to design your picture albums. You can work with existing templates or start from scratch. You can also upload pictures and use their picture library. You can easily record a simple message to each picture. When I add pictures to my son’s albums, I have my husband go back and add the sound. I think it is better for a male voice to be heard when my son selects a picture on the screen, instead of a female voice.
TapToTalk is a new program that is quickly gaining recognition. They are constantly making improvements to the system based on feedback from their customers. They also have great video tutorials to help you learn how to use the designer features and how to operate the the TapToTalk on the Nintendo. This is a company that appreciates what parents of children with communication difficulties deal with every day. They have priced their product starting out at $99 for the Starter Kit and one year subscription to the site. You can continuously add and take away pictures to your TapToTalk to meet your child’s needs. For more information about TapToTalk, please visit their site. http://www.taptotalk.com/index.aspx
