Homeschool Schedule For New School Year All Planned

I planned out our new homeschool schedule for the new school year with the kids. I had them pick out there interests and we then divided them up through out the week. My daughter started her first week of school last week and it went well. My son still is in his summer program so he is only doing Friday’s at the moment. This way they had classes that they were interested in. I also had my son pick out his curriculum to use during the year. The only thing he didn’t pick out was reading and that is ok. As I have picked that out.

Memoria Pres Review

My kids have always been into Astronomy. My daughter is more curious then my son, as she is always wanting to go outside to look at the stars to see what we can find. We had the chance to review the Book of Astronomy Set by Memoria Press. This is geared towards kids in grades 3 – 5.

I received the Student Book and the Teacher Book. The Teachers Book is set up the same way the  Student book is, except that it has answers in it. In this program the kids will learn about constellations, the motion of earth, names of stars, as well as which season you will see the constellations, for example the Summer Triangle and the Winter Zodiacs.

Homeschool Copywork – Review

Homeschool Copywork Review

I always thought copywork was just to improve handwriting but it is so much more when you think about it. I have started to use copywork with the kids as well as myself. We received a Lifetime Membership to Homeschool Copywork. I use the copywork for different subjects such as art, literature, and bible.

Copywork teaches children many things other than just handwriting. It teaches them new vocabulary, spelling, and punctuation. It also teaches children reading and comprehension. They do have to understand what they are reading. It sparks discussion and can build leadership.

Memoria Press Review

We had the chance to review the Second Grade Literature Guide Set from Memoria Press. The set included an answer key, The Courage of Sara Noble, Prairie School, Tales From Beatrix Potter, Animal Folk Tales of America, and Little House In the Big Woods. We were going to do Little House in the Big Woods but my daughter wanted to start with The Courage of Sarah Noble.

Once I finalize the curriculum I can start a schedule for the kids. From being able to review different homeschool curriculum I have found new things that are working with my kids. Also some of our curriculum got put on the back burner and I am going to bring that out and finish it up.
