Neville Museum – Extreme Deep Exhibit – Field Trip

Neville Museum

Last week I took the kids to the Neville Museum as they had a new exhibit called Extreme Deep. The Extreme Deep is an amazing hands on exhibit exploring life at the bottom of the sea. It was presented  by Evergreen Exhibitions in collaboration with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHO). It depicts the mysteries of the ocean floor at greatest depths, newly discovered life forms, thermal vents, close up views of deep sea research submersibles as well as shipwrecks like the titanic. Visitors  observe first hand technology that has only recently allowed men and woman to travel the ocean floor.

Weis Earth Science Museum – Spur of the Moment Field Trip

Weis Earth Science Museum

Today we headed to the Weis Earth Science Museum for a spur of the moment field trip. We couldn’t make it to Neenah in time for the showing/funeral service of my husband’s uncle. My daughter had a doctor’s appointment this morning. He did make an appearance with my son to the gathering. He dropped off my daughter and I at the museum.

The museum was very interesting. It contains information about history of Wisconsin and science.  It’s not very big and probably only took us 30 minutes to go through.

Local Meteorologist Came To Do Weather Class

For the longest time I have wanted to put together a weather class for the homeschool community. I contacted Cameron Moreland from NBC26 and he agreed to do a class for us. Thank you Cameron for coming and speaking to us and Thank You to the parents for allowing me to post this picture.

We had a great turn out for the weather class and I think a tour of the station and maybe the National Weather Service could have been a bonus added on to this. Maybe later in the future.

Field Trip to Wild Life Sanctuary and Bay Beach – Quarter Rides WOOT!!

Yesterday I got together with another homeschooling family and we headed out for a fantastic day of fun! The weather was a little cool but it was not hot. I think I even got some sunburn or wind burn.

Our first stop was the Wild Life Sanctuary. They have really made some nice additions to it. They home animals that are injured. They even put up some play ground equipment for the kids to play on. Which I thought was pretty cool. Lots of geese and ducks and I noticed there was two swans. There was only one Canadian Goose nesting yet. Couldn’t really feed them as they were full from being fed by a mound of kids on field trips.
