Back To The Re-Evaluating Drawing Board Again
This post is really hard for me to write as I have so many things going through my head at the moment. Over the last few days I have seen a lot of repetition in Brittany. Signs that are starting to kind of alarm me.
I had her evaluated back in Spring for Autism. The doctor said at that point in time she had characteristics but not enough to diagnose her. He said that she could possibly have Aspergers or PDD NOS.
Thursday’s Special Needs Blog Hop #1
Welcome to Super Mommy’s Special Needs Blog Hop. Life got so busy that I just didn’t have much time to blog and I really have missed it. The one thing I missed was the Special Needs Blog Hop. So I thought I would start it up again. The reason behind it is I would love to see the Special Needs Community Closer. I know alot of what we had related to autism but it was nice to see what other special need parents went through and it was nice to know we could all support each other regardless of the special need.
Evaluation Went Well
Well yesterday was the big day for Brittany. The psychologist came out to the house and my case manager who over sees Dakota’s Autism Therapy was here also. Brittany had a blast playing with her and the beans. I have made a little sensory bin for Brittany with some dried beans and she gets a kick out of it and plays with it for hours. She did identify her colors. She knows her shapes and can count 1 2 3. She can identify A B C so far. She was making good eye contact and interacting as well as good playing.
Possible Biological Test For Autism
I like to read the new break through on Autism however sometimes I gotta wonder where they get the funding for this and how much of it is true. I have seen things from many angels and wonder what’s next all the time. This article was interesting though as it made me think back to a couple years after my son was first diagnosed. I was talking to a friend in Texas. We were talking about how Dakota’s MRI’s showed it to be abnormal because of grey matter that should be white. I remember a couple neurologists at the time one from Texas and the one we were seeing in Madison University Hospital tell me it was common for kids with autism to have abnormal gray matter. It did later fill to white according to the MRI’s. I will never forget the day I got the call though about the MRI. I was home alone and my parents still lived in Milwaukee. Nothing like a phone call telling you they have to do more testing to find out if it’s a brain degenerative disease or not. Thankfully it wasn’t. I suppose I am getting off topic here.
