In science we have been working on the African Grasslands. We have been learning about the habitat and the different animals. Well I have been wanting to add some art into our curriculum as it’s been a while since we had the chance to do art. I stumbled up on Ndebele House art. It was a lesson plan in one of my art subscriptions. Even though we didn’t study the Ndebele people I thought it would be fun to tie it in as a theme.
The last couple weeks have been so busy for me. I don’t think I have really taken any time for me. It has been busy with making sure the house is clean, the kids homework is done for the day, ice skating, girl scouts, and doctors appointments.
I have had this incredible urge to want to paint lately. I don’t know where it’s coming from. I can’t draw to save my life. I bought some acrylic paints and some canvas. I also bought some good watercolors.
A friend of mine and my mother in law had pointed somethings out about Dakota’s artwork. I never really thought about it lots before but now I am so curious as to how does my son see things and how does he think. I am huge abstract art fan. I love lines and colors. My friend looked at Dakota’s work and said that he reminds her of Monet. My mother in law has been impressed with how matching colors can come naturally to him.
When I was taking some college credits for my Business Degree, one of the classes I had to take was art. I never thought I would really enjoy it or appreciate as much as I do now. I truly really do appreciate it a lot more now. I LOVE abstract art. My favorite abstract artist is Jackson Pollack. I loved his work. I really enjoyed Pablo Picasso’s Blue period. I loved the blue and purple tones in those pictures. There is still a lot I don’t understand but that is OK. Drawing in the windows today brought back memories from my classes.
