Sunday is Family Time
We have started making Sundays the day for spending some quality family time together. Only every other Sunday Daddy won’t participate because he will be at work. Dakota was all excited about playing board games until it was time to shut off the xbox and the computers.
We started off by playing Sponge Bob Operation. During the game I noticed that Dakota was getting stressed out. Part of it was because Brittany was screaming because she wanted to play too. Partly because at that moment he really wasn’t into playing games. He more so just wanted to be alone. He went into his room. We did manage to play Sponge Bob Square Pants.
The next game we played was a Cranium game called Cadoo. You have to get four of your colors in a row to win. You win by answering and doing solo questions, or if you get a combo you have to either act, draw, or sculpt the question for the other players to guess. It’s rather a fun game that is heaps of laughter.
Dad had to find something he could carry on his pinky and something he could push across the floor with his nose.
The last game we played was called Blurt. It’s an uproarious word game race. You are given definitions and have to blurt out the answer of what it means. It’s a lot of fun. Even the easiest definition could be really hard to figure out.
I think we played games for over 3 1/2 hours today. It was fun to sit around the table and play games and laugh and get a nice break from the computer.

My daughter wants to have game night but I can’t convince my son to do so or the games he wants to play are not appropriate for her. There is a ten year age difference. He has however gotten her involved with his Magic card game( a trading card came like Pokemon but for older kids). I keep telling him not to turn her into a geek like him but he thinks she needs some balance.

I have heard of the Magic game. I use to play it a long time ago when it first came out. It’s been out a while. I wouldn’t know what to do now if someone gave me a deck of cards. Brad and Dakota are different ages too and that makes it hard. Although I was proud of Brad because he did play along with all the games even if he thought the first one was babyish. LOL

I love this idea. This is a great tradition to start now when the kids are young. I’m sure they will grow to love and appreciate it when they are older. It’s a great way to stay “in touch” with your children.

I feel lately that I haven’t done much with the kids. I feel as though we don’t spend enough time as a family. I really think it’s important to take even just one day out a week and forget about the computer and xbox and just have fun and laugh. Maybe in Spring it will be a little different as we can go outside and go to the park rather then be stuck inside for winter. If that’s the case I will move the game night to a different night during the week. We had a good time.

Thanks Thom! We had a blast. I just wish that Dakota played more with us. At least we got one game in with him.

LOL Very true Vicki. The most important thing is your having fun and laughing. Cadoo is hilarious and so is Blurt. I love Cranium Games.

The game night idea is really cool. I love your photo of daddy pushing that ball with his nose. Did it hurt, I wonder?

Hi Jing! Thanks for stopping by. The game day was. The ball was squishy so I don’t think it hurt his nose. It was quite funny.
