Snoopy’s All Star Football Storybook App Review

Snoopys All Star Football Review

Cupcake Digital has released a new app today called Snoopy’s All Star Football. You can purchase it in iTunes right now for special introductory price of 99 cents. That sale is good for today November 20 and November 21. The original cost of the app is $2.99. So your actually getting a good deal if you get it now.

Snoopy’s All Star Football is based on the beloved comics of Charles M. Schulz. This is a brand new peanuts story filled with football, fun, and the whole gang. The setting is a good old fashion football game in the backyard.

Charlie Brown rounds up the whole gang to play a game of football. It is Girls VS Boys. There is what appears to be a new kid that has joined Team Boys. The question is who is this mysterious player and what is their agenda. The score is tie. Who will win the game? Will it be the girls or the boys. I can’t tell you or it would ruin the story.

As your reading the story you have the option of having it narrated or turning off the narration to read it at your own pace. We off course let the narration play. During the narration you can see the text being highlighted as the story is read to you.

After we read the story we checked out the All Stars Foot Ball game. You are the quarter back (Charlie Brown). Your job is to pass the ball for an all star catch and touch down. Controlling where you throw is a little difficult. At least until you get use to the controls. Your job is to pass to someone who is open and once they catch it they run in for a touch down. There are 20 levels with a bonus level. We didn’t complete all 20 levels but the game could seriously get addicting.

It was really nice to share Charlie Brown with my daughter. It was a favorite of mine growing up and it’s nice to see it introduced to our kids. I don’t think there was a Charlie Brown cartoon I didn’t like. After all who doesn’t love Charlie Brown. My favorite part is when he says “Good Grief”. I have always loved how that was said. I loved how Sally would only play the football game if her Sweet Babbo (Linus) would play. I think my daughter cracked up at that part. We also kind of chuckled when Violet and Patty said they didn’t want to mess up their hair or their pretty dress, but still played to help the girls team out. There is Lucy in her Psychiatrist Stand, Linus with his blanket, and Schroeder with his piano. All things we are use to seeing in Charlie Brown cartoons.

What I really liked about this story was the fact that there was a lesson to be learned. The lesson was it doesn’t matter who wins or loses a game, it’s the fact that you had fun that counts the most. I love stories that have lessons to teach kids.

This app is good for ages 6 – 8. I think it would be great for a person of any age. After all us adults are still kids at heart.

This is compatible with iphone, ipad and ipod touch with iOS 4.3 or later.

Disclosure: I was not paid for this review. I did receive a copy of Snoopy’s All Star Football for my review. The opinions in this review are 100% mine.
