I am a huge Paula Deen fan! I love butter real butter. Dad if your reading this we have been using Land O Lakes Butter!! YUM!! I love a lot of Paula Deens recipes. Well I have been trying to find a good home made mac and cheese recipe. I think I found one and it’s Paula Deen. This week I had made a bean and ham soup but I didn’t care for it. My husband and my neighbor liked it. I also made the mac and cheese recipe and I love it!! It’s my new favorite. I didn’t take a picture so I can’t share what it looks like. I was so hungry by the time it came out of the oven I didn’t think to take a picture. LOL

Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded sharp white Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni, cooked and kept warm

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 13 x 9 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large Dutch oven (I used my stove top as I don’t have a Dutch oven. I just had a lower heat on) melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, or until onion is tender. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes. Gradually add milk, and cook, stirring constantly, for 5 to 6 minutes, or until mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat. Stir in mustard and salt. Add cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth. Add macaroni, tossing gently to combine. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
