Reading Eggs Review

Reading eggs is a unique online reading program where children can learn one on one how to read. This reading program focuses on a core reading curriculum of phonics, sight words using skills and strategies essential for sustained reading success. There is 120 lessons that is great for children 4 –  7 learning how to read.

There is lots of new lessons, a creative story writing factory, new games, and many wonderful new books to read in Storylands. Storylands clinker castle focuses on building reading fluency and comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary, and a range of writing skills including grammar and punctuation.

New lessons are being created for the older Eggsplorers as part of Reading Eggs world. This world is perfect for 6 – 8 year olds who already know the basics of reading but still have much to learn about reading, spelling, and comprehension.

The kids have there own house to decorate a big new shop, and avatar that can walk around and travel to new destinations on Reggie’s bus. Children are able to choose there adventure from a wide range of activities and places to go.

My Thoughts:

I really liked the reading lessons. My son really enjoyed doing them. There is one problem that I ran into and that was the flash player. It happened several times and it was very frustrating where even my son was turned off. We cleared the cache and even reinstalled flash. That worked however it seemed to happen often and I got really tired of reinstalling adobe flash. My son did really like earning eggs to spend in the store. I also really liked the section where you could read chapter books. They were longer then the books in the lesson. I thought the lessons we very interactive. I like that this is a phonics based reading program.

My son has autism and he is really good with decoding words but has trouble with the simple sight words. I thought this program was great for him. As we used the program I did notice his reading improve more.

My 5 and 4 year old love reading eggs! I like that they are able to navigate around the lessons themselves without me needing to be with them all the time. Great review – thanks!
