Ooey Gooey Slime Fun

My daughter has been wanting to make this ooey gooey slime…… and ooey gooey is what it is alright…. I caution you as you make this that this is very messy!! Today was the first day all week I have finally felt up to doing things. I got out all the supplies and surprised her. Can’t say she was really excited about the feel at first and seemed a little discouraged that it wasn’t working….it just took a little time.

What You Need:

One CLEAR 5 oz bottle of Elmers Glue – NOTE It must be the clear glue or it will NOT work.

1/4 cup baking soda

2 cups warm water

popciscle sticks

acrylic paint – any color

two bowls

In your first bowl you will pour the whole bottle of clear glue into the bowl until it is completely empty. We picked our acrylic paint and I put about 3 small drops into the glue. I had my daughter mix the glue and paint until it was blended together. I actually kept her mixing while I did the next step.

In the second bowl I poured in two cups of warm water and 1/4 cup of baking soda. You are suppose to mix it until it dissolves but I had trouble with it totally dissolving. I even tried to heat up the bowl in the microwave to make the water a little warmer then what it was. Once the baking soda is dissolved you will slowly add your solution to the glue bowl. Add some stir a little….and repeat until it is all in the bowl.

Your probably wondering by now how you know it is done. The glue will start to kind float in the bowl. As you pull it out it will be very drippy and very slimey. It took both of us to skim the bowl very quickly and then you pass it back and forth into your hands. You squeeze it as you toss it back and forth. The more you squeeze and pass it the more firmer it will become. It took us about 10 minutes. I combined mine with my daughter and washed my hands. Complete dried mine and had her give it to me. Then I added in the glitter and continued to squeeze and pass hand to hand. She washed her hands and dried them completely and by then it was ready to play with.

Once you finish cleaning up you can play and play until your bored! When we were finished we just stored our slime in a ziplock baggie.
