#NOTBackToSchoolDay Festivities

This year I wanted to do something special for the kids and I wanted to make it something we do every year. I thought that September 1st would be a great day to celebrate NOT Back to School. I had talked it over with a another homeschooling family and she agreed that it would be fun. Each year we will plan something a little different, but a couple things will remain the same. We had a fun long list of things we wanted to do, however, a little shopping kind of put a crimp in some of the activities. I was on a mission to find a black leotard with a skirt for my daughters dance class and Target didn’t have my daughters size. So I panicked. Thank goodness Kohl’s at the mall still had some leotards with skirts available in her size. I was in and out of there quickly. We start our full schedule next Tuesday.  I suppose your wondering when I will get to the festivities……ok here we go.

The first thing we did was head to IHOP for breakfast. I was super excited because I have been wanting to try the maple bacon french toast donut. Well I was excited till I read that it had Bavarian Creme in it. Then I lost the excitement….not a creme fan. So instead I had a ham and cheese omelet. I was really surprised that it was stuffed with hash browns. It didn’t say it was suppose to be. Of course what do I always say when I eat omelets at IHOP…..should have went to Perkins. Now don’t get me wrong it was good but Perkins makes better omelets.

We had a couple stores to stop at before our next destination. Our next destination was Barnes and Noble. I had the kids each pick out a book that they wanted to read. As they need to spend 15 minutes a day on reading something they choose. I was also excited to find out that you could get a educators discount. YIPPIE!! Love to save! The kids picked out their books and we headed to Target.

By the time we finished with Target it was already almost 4:00 PM. I was like WOW this day is going by super fast! The kids were really good considering the fact that we had a few stores to go to. They deserved to burn off there energy at the Park. I think we stayed at the park for an hour. We decided that we were going to head to Little Caesars and pick up Pizza and Breadsticks. We were originally going to make home made personal pan pizzas. Time was getting the better of us.

After we finished dinner we pulled out the T-Shirts for the kids to decorate. They were to decorate it with there grade. My son was not to excited to make his shirt. So his is kinda half fast done. My daughter had a blast making her shirt!!

We have decided every year we will kick off with breakfast, the bookstore, and some kind of craft that shows the grade they are in. Then of course other fun things to do. Hoping one of these times to just get out of town and explore some place new to kick it off as well.

We did have a blast with our friends!!
