Jumpstart Review and Giveaway

For more then 15 years, Knowledge Adventure has set the standard in kids’ software by creating the finest  educational products for use in the home and classroom. In addition to the cd games, Knowledge Adventure has launched a browser-based virtual world at www.jumpstart.com, for kids 3 – 10 years old.

There are many places to explore in the game. There is Storyland for kids ages 3 – 5.  Adventure land and Marine land is for ages K – 3 grade and Future land is geared towards 3 -5 grade.

Kids can create their own avatars called Jumpeez for themselves and explore magical worlds, discovering and unlocking games, videos and storybooks that teach them everything from math to reading. Over the next year Knowledge Adventure will continue to add more features, portals and learning games to this website.

I was really happy to get a chance to review www.jumpstart.com’s virutal world. It came just at the right time when school was about to start. I wasn’t sure if my son Dakota would take to it or not as sometimes he gets bored easy. Now it has become an almost every day use so that he can get into the mode of homeschool. He uses this before we start our work.

I am amazed at the time he spends on it. It ranges from 30 minutes up to 2 hours of time. I let him stay on it at his leasure as it’s fun and he is learning something at the same time. What I like about it is that we can use it anywhere and it also has a few downloadable games too that he can play.

When we log in Dakota gets really excited. I think there was something he got really excited about it was some kinda skateboard thing he won or he got to play on the game itself. I think my sons favorite thing game is one of the games we downloaded. It was called The Legend of Grizzly McGufin. I think he really likes it because he doesn’t have to wait for me to log him in he can just click on the icon and go to the game.

I really like the fact that this catches my kids interest to learn. It’s a way to have fun and learn at the same time. Most games kids get bored with but my son was not bored with this he was really into it. I was watching him play on day and he went into a science area and it was telling him different facts and he would repeat to me the ones he found interesting. Which I thought was totally awesome. Another thing I really liked checking out was the Jumpstart blog. I also like that when something new comes along it sends you an email to tell you what’s new. I like seeing the status of what my kids are kids are doing as well.

I know that when my trial runs out I do plan on purchasing this to use with my son. It’s hours of  both learning and fun.
