Johnny Appleseed Fun
Today Dakota and I worked on a lapbook from A Journey Through Learning called Johnny Appleseed. It was very interesting and fun to do at the same time. Below you can see our lapbook. When I put them together I put them together like a book not the way they picture it. LOL Yes I know I am different.
Dakota and I also made applesauce together. You will find our pictures and the recipes below.
Applesauce
4 Apples peeled, cored, and chopped
3/4 cup water
1/4 sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
In the saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar and cinnamon. Cover and cook over medium heat. We stirred ours a lot in between the cooking time. We cooked it for 20 minutes. (or until your apples are soft) We let the applesauce cool for a little bit and then we took a potato masher and mashed the applesauce. Once we were done we put it in a bowl to let it cool more and will cover and put it in the fridge.
I also spent some time working with my daughter. I found a dot art and Apple word tracer from DLTK. I also found some Johnny Apple Seed Pages to Color You can find Brittany’s pictures below.
Brittany and I also did some Apple Painting
Apple Printing
- Apple
- Knife
- Paint (red, Green, Yellow)
- Paper
Directions:
Have the adult cute the apple in half. Put some paint on a dish and let the child dip the apple half in the paint and stamp it on the paper.

I had no idea it was that easy to make applesauce!

I didn’t think it was that easy either. It is really simple and it really doesn’t take all that long to make.
