Our Homeschool Week – Artsy Week

This week was a pretty good week. I was suppose to finish up babysitting and Friday was to be my last day. My daughter was still sick on Monday so I had to take her back in. We found out that she needs to see a cardiologist and I thought it was best for all of us if I just ended it sooner. I am pretty sure they were upset because I didn’t get a response. I don’t feel guilty anymore because I did what I thought was best for my daughter. The kids really were able to focus and do artsy things again. We haven’t been able to do that for the past few months.

Brittany did finish her level of Growing With Grammar. We start her new book on Monday. She was working on her test and she was talking out loud about what she was suppose to be doing. I heard her say I am going to get an A on this, you watch and see. Well needless to say she got 100%, and I heard the I told you so.

For science Brittany has been working on the African Safari. We did an experiment on Giraffe saliva. That was pretty interesting as it gave us a visual just to how thick their salvia is compared to a human. It’s for protection from the acacia trees that they eat. We were suppose to do a Giraffe activity but I couldn’t find it as the link was broken so we just went on a search to find one that we could do in place of that. We found a how to draw an elephant. She decided that she wanted to do that. It wasn’t enough that she drew it so she got out all of the paints and decided to paint it colorful.

My son was learning about Pocahontes in History. I didn’t realize that she was the one who helped the English colonists get along with the Indians. Granted there were times of up and downs. She married a man from England. She lived a very short life though as she died at 22. Instead of trying to create a museum out of objects, I thought it would be easier if we just drew it out. So we drew out a Pocahontes Museum exhibit.

On Friday we decided to make homemade cheeseburger soup. My daughter decided that she wanted to help make the soup, so she peeled the potatoes. The soup turned out good. Although I thought it would be a little thicker. Tasted way better the next day. I will share the recipe sometime this week.

Saturday was a day of excitement for my daughter. I took her to a Fairy Tale Cake Decorating Class. She got to make cupcake high heal shoes and make a princess. She is so darn independent, she really wouldn’t let me help her much. I don’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. She did a really awesome job on it. We need to practice though using different tips so she knows how to use them better.

Next week is going to be busy with appointments. Almost everyday we have something going on. Hope you all have a great week!
