One of my favorite books is Giggle Giggle Quack by Doreen Cronin. It’s not just my favorite book but my daughters book. Duck is always in trouble with Farmer Brown. In this book Farmer Brown goes away for vacation and his brother is there to take care of the animals. Well Duck changes the notes that were left. So one night the animals had pizza in the barn, pigs had a bath in the tub, movie night. I don’t want to tell you too much as it will spoil the book.
My daughter will try to repeat things when I say Giggle Giggle Quack. She tries so hard it comes out Giggle Moo, Giggle Oink, or Giggle Quack. Sometimes she says it when she sees the animals. It’s really cute.
After we read this book we decided to make different puppets. Our first puppet was a paper plate cow. We did that with a pattern. We also made a paper plate duck that was with a pattern. The last one we made was a Paper Bag Pig that was fun and easy to make. My whole theory of making these puppets were because they were animals in the book. We played with the puppets afterward and my daughter still likes to play with the puppets now.
Paper Bag Pig Puppet
What you need:
- paper bag lunch bag size
- black marker
- pink construction paper
Now I didn’t use a patter for this. I just cut out the ears, nose, and little legs, and glued them on the bag. I used the marker to make the eyes and marks on the nose. Really it’s just that simple to put it together. The little legs get glued to the sides of the bag.
One more thing I wanted to share was the video I found on YoutTube of the book. My daughter absolutely loved watching it.
