Four Foods on Friday 82
I have seen this meme and always wanted to get into it. Well I am glad I could find the time today.
If you would like to join in Four Foods on Friday Visit Fun, Crafts, and Recipes
Here are the questions for this week:
#1. Lynne’s question. Do you cook items besides meat on the bbq grill, and, do you prefer gas or charcoal grills?
#2. Name a food that begins with A.
#3. Name a drink that begins with A.
#4. Share a recipe for something that calls for American Cheese.
My answers are:
1) Right now the only thing cooked on the grill is meat. I would like to try corn on the gril and other recipes I have come across. Well since I almost blew up my face with the gas grill I am not sure I really liked it. LOL I love the charcoal girlls. But either way a gril is a grill and I will cook on what I have. I own a gas grill. My husband normally does the grilling at least lately.
2) A food that begins with A is Asparagus (I am not of fan of)
3) A drink that begins with A is: Aqua Fine Water. Sorry that is all I could think of at the moment other then Apple Juice but someone said that already.
4) Macaroni and Smoked Cheddar Cheese
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 scant teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded smoked Cheddar cheese
- 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded or cubed American process cheese
- Topping:
- 1 cup soft fresh bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons butter
- paprika
Lightly butter a 2 to 2 1/2-quart baking dish. Heat oven to 350°.
Cook macaroni in boiling salted water following the package directions. Drain and rinse; set aside.
In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter; add flour and stir until blended. Stir in salt, pepper, and mustard. Gradually stir in the milk and continue cooking , stirring, until mixture is thickened. Stir in cheeses until melted and smooth. Add the macaroni and stir to blend. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
Combine bread crumbs and melted butter, tossing to coat well; sprinkle over the macaroni mixture. Lightly sprinkle with paprika.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until browned and bubbly.
Serves 6 to 8.
