Dig-It Games for iOS

Back in July I did a review on Dig-It Games Mayan Mysteries. The version I tried was for playing on the PC. Which you can also purchase Mayan Mysteries for iOS. So I decided to see what else they had to offer and well I downloaded all three apps. I thought I would share them with all of you.

Loot Pursuit Tulum– This app is compatible with iPhone, iPod, and iPad. This app is FREE. This app is great for kids in grades 5 – 7. Kids get to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills. Your job is to protect the rare artifacts from the Maya site of Tulum in Mexico by stealing them back from the looters before they can sell them on the black market. The players must use all their knowledge of number and operations in base ten to solve the math problems and collect the ancient artifacts, which you can learn more about the item.

MayaNumbers – FREE App for iPhone, iPod and iPad. Did you know that Ancient Mayans had a remarkable number system? This is stimulating math game that challenges players to translate numbers using the Maya math system before time runs out. The number symbols consist of shells, dots, and lines. Do you think you have what it takes to beat the clock?

I did learn something new with this app. The Mayans used 20 for the base of their math system. So instead of ones, tens and hundreds it is ones, twenties, four hundreds, eight thousands, etc. Gotta wonder if they counted with both their fingers and toes.

I also find it interesting what they used to represent their numbers. The Mayans used a shell to represent zero. They used a cacao bean to represent the number 1. To represent the number 5 they used a stick.

Can U Dig It! – Is a FREE game compatible with iPhone, iPod and iPad. This is a puzzle game where you use strategic thinking to see how many rare ancient artifacts you can dig up. This is a interesting archaeology game where you are going to excavation sites to dig up Mayan tools, weapons, jewelry and more. There is two different modes in the game: Planner and Digger. I haven’t tried this yet but I did download it for my son and I to play. My son loves Ancient History.

Please note this was note a review. I was not asked to do this. I shared this because I know there will be others out there would be interested in these games. The opinions that are in this post are mine.
