Dakota is sick again or is he? Part 2

Well thankfully Dakota does not have H1N1. He doesn’t have strep. I didn’t think he would as he doesn’t have tonsils. His throat is a little red and still had a low grade fever.

I did mention to the Doctor that Dakota has had fevers for a day and no other symptoms. I also asked if it’s possible that we are dealing with the stress in autism. She said that is a possibility. Seriously he has a fever about once a week or every other week with no other symptoms.

Today he had a headache and sore throat. So that’s why I took him in this time.

I mentioned to the Doctor about the school policy and she said if he doesn’t have a fever tomorrow there is no reason that he can’t go to school. I told her that I wasn’t going to bring him in for every fever either and she agreed with me. She told me to use my discreation like I have been doing.

I talked with the Vice Principal and the Nurse they both agree this is a different circumstance we went over the school policy and agreed that if Dakota didn’t have a fever the next and had no other symptoms he could come back to school. We all want him there are much as possible. I told her if he had a fever of 100 or greater I would keep him home according to the school policy.

So basically we are all in agreement of my plans. I was relieved as what else could I do? I am glad that the school is working with me. I also told them I have no intentions of modifying his day right now. I don’t know if it is stress causing this. It’s too early. I said the ball was in their court if they wanted to modify his day or keep going like we are. I personally think going like we are for now is the best course of action.

I hope all goes well with Dakota and he feels better soon!

Thank you for popping by and the follow! I am already a loyal follower of your blog! I love NY Especially during the holidays. If you do get there, definitely go to Manhattan and visit Time Square and Rockafellar Center. Dress properly though…

I miss living there but, I wouldn’t move back. I’ll just continue to visit frequently.

Jael, Dakota has been not feeling good at all today poor little guy. He is miserable with the headache. I too hope he feels better. Everything you mentioned about NY is everywhere I want to see. Oh and I would love to see Central Park. That’s another thing on my list.

Well I’m glad he doesn’t have H1N1 but I’m sorry he doesn’t feel better. It’s so horrible for a child to be sick. I’m glad the school is in agreement with your plans. Mama knows best. Take care of that little one and Brittany plus yourself my friend :)

This is always tough. My son has a lot of low grade fevers and sore throats too. Last year, we found out that he was having some pretty serious anxiety attacks at school — they kept sending him to the nurse because he felt like he was going to throw up and ran low grade fevers.

Anxiety in autism is always such a big concern. Also, we found with my guy he doesn’t always know when he’s sick and has a hard time figuring out symptoms. That makes it so hard to figure out what’s really going on.

Thanks for sharing this with me. I think I just might give the teacher my blog link and let her visit so she can see the comments when I post about autism. I am really lucky because Since I sent him back he has had really great teachers. They don’t check for fevers on him at school unless he says he doesn’t feel good. I did notice he gets a lot of headaches lately. He has ran some low grade fevers alot. With all the hysteria from the swine flu the health department has the school enforcing kids not returning until they are fever free. Thanks for stopping by. Thanks for sharing your story. I love to hear what others go through and if it’s the same or different.
