Dakota is sick again or is he?

Well yet again Dakota is sick with a very low grade fever, headache and sore throat. Seems to me that he gets a low grade fever once a week or once every other week.

Brittany was suppose to go to the Drs today but she slept through the night. She is clingy today and demanding attention but that is nothing new. LOL Dakota is going to take her time slot.

Schools policy is that if the kids have a 100 degree fever or higher they are suppose to stay home. So if the next day Dakota is fever free he has to stay home again because he has to be fever free for 24 hours before I send him back.

Well you see the Dr has written a note to the school that basically states that Dakota can get sick easier then other kids due to the fact of stress. So my question is if they can’t find anything wrong with him other then a  low grade fever is it alright to send Dakota back. How do I know if this is stress from his autism? So that is the topic for the Doctor as well as the school. I have a call into the Vice Principal but she was in a meeting and I am assuming it was with the Principal as I tried to call the high school and he wasn’t there. She is suppose to call back.

Well if I don’t get a call back soon I am going to call again. I really need to figure this out as I don’t like him missing school. He loves school now. It concerns me because in Kindergarten he missed a half of year. And we are now trending on being sick more often. We have already figured out what to do if the situation becomes worse by shortening his school day but if i don’t have to I don’t want to.

The structure is very good for Dakota. The break is also nice for me. I know that sounds selfish but I really enjoy the days he is at school. I know they are concerned just as much as I am. However at least I am trying to find answers.

I think in a  little while I am going to google autism stress/sickness and see if  I can come up with anything. I have to figure out better search terms but you see the direction I am going.

I will let you all know how this pans out.

I will write a update in a little while about Dakota/Dr/School. The school is actually being great. I talked with the Vice Principal so that is a good thing. I hope you get to feeling better. Ear infections are no fun at all. No worries I feel like I am behind in my blog reading.

Don’t feel bad about needing a break. I don’t think it’s selfish. Can’t care for them if you don’t care for yourself and all…:)

Please don’t think it’s awful to admit to enjoying the break when Dakota goes to school! I think we are better moms when we get some time to ourselves.

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on the lack of friends issue. When other mom’s judge it is so hard! I wonder if I will ever get past the embarrassment when Noah acts up. His behaviors really do make me think twice about pursuing a friendship with another mom. It’s always in the back of my head this thought that they won’t want him around their kids. sucks!

OMG Kristine I swear I hear myself say the exact same thing. It’s so nice to know others who have the same feelings and thoughts as me. Thanks for stopping by.

In Dakota’s case couldn’t you just break the 24 hour no fever rule? Since everyone knows what’s going on with his fevers. If it’s here today and gone tomorrow, he probably doesn’t need to stay home an extra day.
