Dakota and Christmas Shopping at School

Friday I gave Dakota some money so that he could do some Christmas Shopping at school. He was so excited when he came out of school the first thing he said was I got Christmas presents for everyone. I knew that would make his day after a rough start to the morning.

We got in the truck and he had this bag where he made a Christmas present at school and of course he is so anxious to give us our presents he rips open the bag he made with the gift he made in school and says here Mommy I made this for you. It’s a blue plaid pillow and the ends are tied all the way around the pillow. He did a great job on it. I love the little homemade gifts he makes at school.

He waited as long as he could. He was told to wait until Daddy got home from work at least. He couldn’t wait no longer he first brought his brother his gift. Brad got a HUGE and I am not talking no little pen. He got a HUGE red pen. Now if it goes missing you can’t miss it. Then he brought me my gift it was an Algoma School Cookbook. I had already bought it 3 years ago but it’s the thought that counts and I told him I was really excited about it. He then gave me Brittany’s gift and he got her the cutest little ruby earrings. He then gave me a magnet that says Mommy’s Kitchen and has a pen on one end and a marker on the other. I also got a magic tree to grow. For Daddy he got a necklace with a cross on it. Dakota bought a smiley stamper for himself.

He had a blast shopping and giving us his gifts. His face glowed at the giving and we were all really happy with our gifts.

Thank you Dakota!!

It was Tim. I love it when he is so proud of himself. Lately that’s not really a side we see with all the behaviors we go through with his autism. I replay it in my head over and over and just smile. It was so cute.

Maya has the little Christmas shop too! I think that is so neat that the kids get a chance to do that. I think it gives them great pride in what they pick out and makes things a little more fun. Not to mention it adds more to the excitement of Christmas.

That is so sweet. My son loves shopping for presents for everyone, too. He doesn’t have a problem waiting to give them to us. It’s my daughter that doesn’t like to wait.

Isn’t it funny how the two are totally opposite. My boys are the same yet so different. I am doing my shopping tonight.

Kids love to be independent. They feel empowered. Obviously Dakota did. That’s great!!

It’s so sweet that he couldn’t wait to give his gifts to all of you. The spontaneous enthusiasm of kids is so wonderful!

It sure is! I love the excitement and glow in their eyes this time of year. He has that even when he hands us an art project he has done. LOL
