I am really excited to share with this review of Curious Kid and Clock – Playtime. This is one my daughter really enjoys to play and she is learning at the same time. Before I started writing this review today I took a little video of her playing this and she said “Mommy I love this game I played this on your iPad when you weren’t looking.” The kids have the iPad2 and I have the iPad Air, and the iPad2 must have been dead so she snuck on mine.
Curious Kid and Clock – Playtime teaches kids how to learn time. It gives the child a time such as 7:15 and the big hand outline is on the :15 and the little hand is on the 7, so it shows them where the time is and gives them a visual when they line it up. It might say something like it’s breakfast time. There is also another part to the app where the kids can take the clock apart and rebuild it.
Here are some of the features of the game:
- build a clock face by yourself.
- play with the interactive clock that comes with movable hour and minute hands, designed especially for kids.
- have great fun unscrewing a clock mechanism.
- play smart puzzle putting the clock parts back together.
- discover an easy and fun way to teach your kids time reading both analog and digital.
- watch scenes to link hours with action and learning telling time correctly.
- look into smart hints to develop reading the time.
This app came at the best time as I have been slowly teaching my daughter how to tell time. She really enjoys learning with this app. She enjoys learning how to tell time and building her own clock. What I really like is there is a test in this app that tells the child to set the clock. There are two levels: Easy and Hard. We of course right now are working on the easy level. She does know how to count by 5s around the clock for the most part. I like that this gives her a visual with both analog and digital. On the hard version it doesn’t give the child the que as to what time it is they have to set the time themselves. So I like that it has two options. What I really like is that she is having fun learning at the same time she is playing the game.
I have already incorporated this game into our homeschool day. She plays this after she finishes up on her math.
This app is great for ages 6 – 8. You can purchase this in the iTunes Store for $1.99. This is compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod.
There are two other games that we really enjoy by Galante Games:
