Thinking Like an Engineer – STEM Review

Thinking Like an Engineer
My son has loved to build and take apart things since he was a little boy. I remember the first time he built a wooden airplane all by himself with the scraps in the garage. As he grew older he was able to use different tools in the garage with an adult present. I was really excited when Thinking Like an Engineer by Innovators Tribe came up for review. It is an online program for grades 6 – 12. It is a one year subscription.

How To Make Fall Lanterns – DIY

Fall is my favorite time of the year. The leaves are past their peak of changing colors and almost are half way fallen off the trees now. Yesterday we stopped at one of my favorite parts and I gathered different fall colored leaves that I don’t see to much here. I decided to use those leaves to make some fall lanterns. I haven’t really had the chance to enjoy fall. I feel like I have been robbed of some of the things that I really enjoy, such as apple picking, fall drives, and pumpkin patches. With all the crazy stuff that has happened since September, things are finally slowly becoming normal again. I am able to sit back and start enjoying some of the things again. I am also really enjoying crafting again. I have a lot of ideas of things I want to start making for gifts this year and some new decorations. I will explain how I made both the Turkey Lantern and the Fall Leaf Lantern.

The Magic Stories – Review

I struggle to find good reading programs for the kids. It seems as though they lose interest or it just doesn’t work for them. We have been enjoying The Magic Stories by Allsaid &Dunn, LLC, publishers of The Reading Game and authors of the Wordly Wise Series. The Magic Stories is a supplemental reading program that is designed to build confidence and develop strong comprehension and writing skills. It is a follow up program for The Reading Game. You don’t have to use The Reading Game first to use The Magic Stories. You can use it as a stand alone. It is designed for 2nd and 3rd grade levels. This is a PDF set that is downloadable. It is friendly with computers, tablets, and phones.

Weave Your Word in Me – – Part 1 – Review

One of the things that is important to my daughter is to learn how to pray. She doesn’t feel that she knows and understands how to pray. So I was on a hunt to find something that would meet her needs. I was really excited when I heard of a bible study and prayer guide that helps tweens understand who God is and how to talk to him. The bible study is called Weave Your Word in Me — Part 1 by Kid Niche Christian Books.

Hands on Learning: Fishery Tour and Halloween Experiments

I absolutely love the days we can do hands on things for our learning. It makes our days flow that much easier and it seems the learning is way more interesting then some of our regular school days. This week we toured the fishery and learned about the different fish that come to spawn. We also did five different Halloween themed experiments. One was a fail but that is ok as we will try again next week 🙂
