A couple weeks ago Brittany and I made Macaroni Necklaces. Very easy to make and very good for toddlers and their fine motor skills to string yarn through a noodle.
What you need:
- yarn
- food coloring
- rigatoni noodles
- ziploc baggies
- newspaper or grocery bags
Directions:
- First you put some rigatoni noodles into a zip loc baggie and grab your food coloring. Add a few drops of food coloring and mush the noodles around in the bag. You may have to add more food coloring and make sure they are covered completely with food coloring.
- Once your noodles are colored pour them onto your newspaper or paper bags and wait for them to dry. We waited a few hours to make sure they were dry.
- Cut your yarn to desired length
- String the yarn through the noodles until you have the amount you want on the yarn and then tie the ends into a know and you now have your necklace.
My daughter had a blast making these necklaces. We saved the extras so she has a chance to do it again when she wants too. Left over colored noodles can also be great for pictures and whatever else you want to glue them onto.
